Simply Diving Autum Holiday

Madagascar  12 October - 27 October 2006

5 days diving was similar but no whale shark dolphins or swordfish (Sylvia could not understand why no sightings as last week they were leaping out of the water - oh well).
Conclusions on diving - very good but would not go again.
Island.
The fourth largest island in the world, with the majority being under forest, grass with some rain forests. Wild life not that prolific with lots of lemurs, lizards, boa constrictors, chameleons and humming birds. Island famous for vanilla pods, ylang - ylang flowers (perfume channel no5 main ingredient).
Food - mainly fish, rice, spaghetti and chips. Restaurants need careful choosing, as cleanliness is not on the menu. Lots of poverty but for the single lad plenty of women of the night, alcohol 2 types of beer and sugar rum with every thing and about 60 proof.
Weather - very hot from April to November 30 - 40c, November to January wet season with continual rain, January to April strong gale force winds Cyclones.
Flying back was the only downer of the holiday - but connections went very well with no hold ups.
Left Madagascar in 35c heat - arrived England raining and 12c.
